I don't fake bake. I don't lay in the sun for hours in Playa. But... I'm active and definitely do not avoid the sun while in Playa. I use 30 SPF all over, usually once a day in the morning before we leave the room. I'm fair (blonde, blue-eyed, Swedish/English bloodline), I freckle, and a "dirty beige" is a downright bitchin' tan for me. I rarely burn unless I miss spots with the sunscreen.
In my book (and in any good dermatoligist's book), fake baking is just asking for trouble. Don't let vanity cause you to turn a blind eye to the inherent dangers of it. I've learned to not give a rat's ass what anyone thinks of my paleness. It's a lot more attractive than my skin cancer surgery scars.

Hey Karen, I am getting two done on my face at the end of the month...never had a plastic surgeon before this...is it any different than when the dermatologists cut out the cancer? Or do they just do a more elegant job?
(2 basal cell cancers on my face, 1 squamous cell on my back and another basal cell on my chest...it wasn't a good visit this time
