Akumal Caribe?

Does anyone have an opinion or direction regarding the Akumal Caribe?

I am in a quandry as to go completely AI and book at the Gala, or rent a very pretty condo at Akumal Caribe.

They seem to have a kids club situlationthere ... which is, for us, a big selling point. We'd like to get away for a few hours to play golf here and there ...

Would we need to rent a car? buy food to stock the fridge?

Suzanne,

I'm confused and others may be also. Do you mean Hotel Akumal Caribe or the Akumal Beach Resort or one of the condo's on half moon bay.

Hotel Akumal Caribe has a kids club, but it is mainly a hotel and bungalows. They do offer some condos on half moon bay, but I'm not sure if they would include the kids club or not. If you send them an email, they are good at answering questions. There are a couple of good recent reviews of Akumal on this site recently in the General Topics section. Do a search and you will find them. You may also want to do a search on golf. Hope this helps.

Most of the transfers to the Akumal area I found were expensive to the point that we decided to rent a car for not much more. Be sure to stop in either PDC or Tulum for food. A can of tuna at the Super Chomak was about 20 pesos and a 74 cent can of Bush's beans was about 23 pesos. Food is very expensive in Akumal.

You are right ... I was kindof under the impression they were the same place. I can't help but be in awe of the beach photos I am seeing of Akumal beach. However, I am thinking for this trip, I may just stay in the PDC area and have someone else do my cooking, cleaning and laundry at an AI for a precious few days.

Suzanne,

Last spring we stayed in PDC and rented a car to visit Akumal and Tulum for a day. We liked Akumal so much, we are planning to stay there this coming spring. If you get the chance, renting a car and driving to a couple places south of PDC could you give you ideas for future trips and would be a fun day trip. I understand the cooking, cleaning, etc.
