How to sleep with 3 kids??

We are getting ready to book our trip to one of the Iberostar resorts (either Tucan or Paraiso) but have a question/problem. We have 3 boys (2, 6 and 8) and are not sure how we are going to sleep! Last year when we went to the Bahamas we had a King bed, a couch and they brough up 2 roll-aways. That worked out fine for us since we co-sleep with our 2 year old and the 2 other boys had the roll-aways. The hotel said only 4 to a room, but they were fine with the 2 year old being "invisible". LOL Can someone tell me if they have couches or roll-aways at the Iberostar or how you have handled traveling with 3 kids? I think we will be fine with 2 double beds (one sleeping 2 boys and one sleeping hubby and 2 year old) and then me on a roll-away but not sure if they even have them. Thanks!

Can't help you with hotel info but how about investing in one of those aerobed thingies. I don't think they cost that much and you can bring it everywhere you travel with the boys.

I've only stayed at the Iberostar Quetzal (which I assume is the same setup as Tucan), so I can't comment on the Paraiso set up, but....

In the room there was also a "couch", basically a couple cushions on a slab (like the mattress is on), so I'd say perhaps one of the 6- or 8-year-olds could sleep on that and put you and hubby each with the other two. I don't exactly recall how long it was, but if you aren't too tall, possibly you could sleep on it, since I don't think it would be any narrower than a cot would be.

Hope this helps!! Oh... and if you stay at the Tucan, the kids will LOVE the animals in the "jungle" there. You and hubby probably will too! It's one of the reasons we keep going back to the same resort (visit #3 next May).

That's a great idea, Michele!! David has one, a Full size, which we got at at bed and bath store, used a 20% off coupon, and I think it ended up costing about $100. So if you get a twin size, it'll be even cheaper.

I sleep on it in David's living room when I visit and his son is there. It's VERY comfortable since you can adjust the firmness to any degree you want. It inflates and deflates very quickly too.

Thank you!

Thanks so much for your advice! The aero bed idea is a great one! Do you think it will be hard to travel with (with security and all)?

I don't think so. They come in their own carrying bag so you can just check it as luggage. Looks pretty sturdy from what I've seen.

Right you are, Michele! They ARE very sturdy. Just make sure the electrical part (the air inflator unit which is connected to the bed) is folded up inside the bed itself to help cushion it. I recommend packing it in a small suitcase/large gym bag to give it more protection and a place for the airport to put on the destination labels, since the carrying bag is only a thin, lightweight cotton/poly(?) type bag. But you'll see for yourself when you check them out in the store. It would definitely be small enough to be a carry-on if you so choose.

With young boys, I'm sure you'd get a lot of use from it - not only for traveling but also when the boys have sleepovers (or when friends/relatives come to visit )!!

overstock.com has the queen size for $89.98 plus $2.95 shipping. There was also a full size available.

We stayed at the IB Quetzal last year and took our 20 year old daughter with us. All of the rooms at the Iberostars have the little couch and our 5'10" daughter slept on it with no problem. The maid will bring you sheets and blankets for it and make it up just like a bed. It might be easier to use than carrying a bed with you- I bet with the 3 kids, you already have a ton of stuff to haul.

Ummm...I don't mean to burst any bubbles but none of the Iberostars allow 5 in one room. I couldn't book it that way even if I tried, the reservation system won't take it. And I don't think if you show up at the hotel with an "invisible" child, they'll let you all stay in one room either. It's been my experience that this will lead to being charged for another room...if one is even available that is. There are fire codes which state 4 max to a room. The only AI hotels that allow 5 in a room in the Mayan Riviera are the Gala and the Palladium and all children must be age 12 or under.

Better check this out because I don't think it's gonna work.

P.S. I also show that they do not have roll aways.
