I read the post below about tipping the hotel maids and it seems to me that $2 and $3 is not enough. What is the appropriate amount to tip your maid?

Hey its totally up to you what you tip. I always left $3 a day. Some leave less and some more.

I think that depends on how many individuals are staying in the room. I usually leave the equivalent of two dollars in pesos, but I am by myself. On the day that I depart, I leave five dollars in pesos plus brand new nail polish, shampoo, hand lotion, or similar items. So if there are a few of you, perhaps a dollar or more per person. The hotel housekeeping staff does not earn much money, so whatever tips they receive are greatly appreciated.
