Razor Skooters @ Gala or other AIs?

We just booked our trip to the Gala ...

My 9 year old son loves his razor skooter, and I think he would be in heaven with it on the paths at our AI.

My question ... Do you think that the paths will be so crowded with people that he would be a hazard/problem?

Or are they relatively quiet and free of traffic so he would not be a bother to the other guests?

I would recommend "NOT" doing that. If for no other reason, I would think that the resort would frown on its use on their property due to liability issues.

Never saw that at "our" AI. Most often the flat paths were used by people pushing baby carriages or folk who would have trouble managing the steps in the interior section. I don't think a 9-year-old on a scooter would be a big hit with them (or the resort management).

The only "paths" are the sidewalks around the Hacienda section which has signs re: no bikes or skating, scooters would probably be included in that. Outside the resort along Playacar neighborhoods would be OK.

No skooter for the kid!

Thanks for the input everyone ... it seemed like a good idea from a kids' perspective. We don't like to be inconsiderate to others.

No skooter for the kid then. He'll have to help his parents drag the beach stuff back & forth!!!

I would like to commend you for not wanting to be inconsiderate to others. Now if we could just sway the folks who hog the palapas at 5am And a prime pool chair at 5:05am and then bounce back and further we would all be much better off. Oh yeah, lets not forget the folks who take the AI resort pool floats back to their room for their own personal use over the week.

The thing that sucks about those people is that you have to get up even earlier then them after a night of heavy drinking and claim your chair. oops..I guess that makes me one of them

Sorry for getting off topic, but

I've never understood how people can travel hundreds/thousands of miles and spend hundreds/thousands of dollars and spend their time staring at and swimming in the POOL when there's a gorgeous beach and ocean there!! Playing the towel game has never been an issue for me. Couldn't care less.... except that it IS so unfair to the other pool people.

Speaking of being inconsiderate of other travelers ... and I truely digress here ...

Just picked my mom up at the airport after her week-long seniors trip to Iceland. Her roommate, who she never met before, snored so badly it kept her up for seven nights. Now THAT sucks.

Sorry ... that has nothing to do with pool floats or skooters or even PDC.

I never ever ever EVER travel without earplugs. I had to share a room with my father for two weeks during a tour of Sweden, and he snored like a freakin' chainsaw. I slept like a baby. (also helped that I had a few (sometimes more) glasses of white wine almost every evening to get me through that trip...)

Don't get me wrong....I hate that sort of thing (chair wars). And you are definitely right about the beach. But when we were at a large AI for 10 days we did find ourselves having to reserve chairs by the pool a couple of days. I don't like it...but had to be done. Just another reason we won't be staying at an AI EVER again.

Definitely not. It is bad enough that some guests walk 4 or 5 across the sidewalks and refuse to move when they walk toward you, forcing you off onto the grass. I think a kid on a Razor would make me go ballistic.

Rude behavior by some seems to be rampant at the AI's. The towel game seems minor to me. Here are some of my experiences:

1) A man dancing on the dance floor was so inebriated that he fell backwards on top of his small child, injuring the child.
2) Took a shuttle from one side of the Bahia to the other. Upon arrival at our destination, a women wanted my space so badly that she grabbed me by the shoulders and pulled me off as I was descending.
3) While waiting for my drink at a crowded Palladium beach bar a man pushed me aside with his arm and shoulder, then plopped his stack of beach towels down on the bar in front of me. He then proceeded to blow cigarette smoke directly in my face.
4) After using the restroom near the Palladium beach bar, I approach the sink to wash my hands and find a gentleman urinating in the sink.
5) A crowd of people are approaching on a narrow sidewalk, walking 4-5 abreast, taking up the whole width of the sidewalk. As they approach my me, my wife, and children they make no attempt to move aside and force us off the sidewalk onto the grass and the lawn sprinklers.

But hey, I'm on vacation, so I try not to let others get in the way of having a good time. Why get into an arguement or scuffle while on vacation?

Mark:

Sorry to hear that you've encountered stuff like that at AI's.......

but I'd say these incidents are due to rude people (who are, sadly, found everywhere), and not the fact that they were staying at an AI.
