Hard Rock Addiction!!

Hola All;

I wonder if I might ask a favour? I am an unrepentant, admitted, commited (or should be commited), unapologetic, compulsive, slightly obsessive collector of pins from the Hard Rock Cafe. The cafes will not sell on a mail order basis, so the challenge faced by a collector is to find people who will shop for them in the Hard Rock Cafes in their towns. Several chums I have been lucky enough to meet through this forum have been kind enough to perform this task for me, and have added significantly to my collection. Tstar has shopped for me in Dallas, Nerak 936 has made purchases for me in Boston and on her recent trip to Orlando, SunSeekers in Houston, Halitosis (who travels a lot) in Philadelphia, Memphis and his home town of Minneapolis, Local8 helped me out in New York City, and jdoil in Austin. (DavidB & Palmtree were even kind enough to bring me a pin from Detroit when we met last year in Playa) I'd like to know if there's anyone out there who either frequents a Hard Rock Cafe in their town, or passes by one, and wouldn't find it too much of a hardship to do some shopping for me? You'll never be out of pocket, since I always arrange payment in full, including postage, before I ask you to forward anything. I don't collect everything the cafes have out at any time - they each bring out pins on an on-going basis throughout the year - but they always have junk jewelry available that I'm interested in. (Nobody's rich enough to collect everything they produce!) Please let me know, in a PM if you prefer, if you would be willing to lend me a hand. I'd appreciate it.

Well, if I see any Hard Rock's along our new planned route through Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, Tennessee, Georgia, on our way to Orlando, then Alabama, New Orleans and Texas when we head from Orlando to Texas we will be sure to pick you up some pins!

PS. thanks go to Michael Holmes for the new route which shaves a day off our time. We've decided to see the Grand Canyon on the drive home.

Loved shopping for ya, Bump!! It's funny to see the expression on the sales clerk's face when I hand them your list. Then they get to work in their bins....."yup, we've got that one... and we've got that one... and we've got that one.....etc"!!

Being an antique dealer I know and love many with "stuff" addictions. I'd be happy to keep my eye out for some pins. Checked to see if there is one in New Mexico, nope! Husband goes to Hong Kong a couple of times a year. Do you have a dream list?

I'm afraid it's more of a "nightmare list" than a dream. I pretty much want everything! Actually, I restrict the majority of my collecting to the guitar pins all the cafes put out, plus the "people" pins they produce (Girls of Rock/Waitress/Servers). The last few years, they've been bringing out special series that cafes all over the world participate in, producing a localized version of it. Like last year, they all brought out a "Butterfly Guitar" series with the body of a guitar being colourful butterfly's wings in different shapes. Most of them were gorgeous. This year, they're doing the same with dragonflies. Series like these are all limited editions, so there's a certain urgency in getting them "while supplies last", so that's why I try to have people in place to shop for me on a periodic basis. What I frequently do is when somebody lets me know they'll help out, I contact the cafe and find out what they have available, and put together a wish list for my shopper. I noticed on another thread, that you spoke highly of downtown Los Angeles. Does that mean you get there on a regular basis, Avalon? Anywhere near the HRC? (Hint, hint!) The cafe in LA was the second one ever opened, after the original in London. Hong Kong does indeed have a Hard Rock Cafe, so if you'll let me know when your guy is on his way in that direction next, and if it's convenient to shop for me, I'd be pleased for the help.

Bumper, send me your list to my email address via this forum, and I'll stop for you if we see any HRC's anywhere along our route through those states, no problemos.

Bumper, I'd be happy to get the LA stuff when you want, no problemo. This morning I saw a hard rock swizzle stick at the flea market, thought of you!

Always, amigo Jesus. Drop me a PM when you're headed that way next and we'll chat. I hadn't forgotten your previous kind offer, but have been sort of tied up lately.

"headed that way next"?
This is my operation base, I have to go out of town on bussines purposes but I'm back and I will be on the HRC neighbourhood this weekend. Anything special besides the butterflies? For mailing I think that I will need to travel to Playa on January to find any Chilly Canandian who will mail them from within your border.

Jesus, you can leave them in Playa with me in January, and I'll be seeing Bump in Playa in March.
