Stays in Mexico...

Not that I am a big country music person (or headbanger ), but someone told me there was this new song I might like (haven't heard it yet, but the lyrics paint a picture that I'm sure we've all witnessed in Mexico...not firsthand of course!)...

Artist: Toby Keith
Song: Stays in Mexico

His name was Steve,
Her name was Gina,
(spoken) You've never been here before have you?
They met at a bar called Cowboy Outcove Cantena,
He was a salesman from South Dakota,
She was a first grade school teacher Pheonix Arizona,
(Spoken) No, My first time here
They started dancing and it got real hot,
Then it spilled over to the parking lot,
One more tequila then we're falling in love,
One night together in Love

(Chorus)
Don't bite off more than you can chew,
There's things down here the devil himself wouldn't do,
Just remember when you let it all go,
What happens in Mexico,
Stays in Mexico

He woke up in the morning and he made a little tellephone call,
To check on his wife and his kids back at home in Souix Falls,
She hopped right in the shower with a heavy heavy mind,
(spoken) What am I doing?
He knew it was the first time Geena had ever crossed that line,
They walked down to the beach and started drinking again,
Jumped into the ocean for a dirty swim,
One more margarita then we're falling in love,
One night together in love

(Chorus)

Oh Mexico

Waiting at the bar at the terminal gate,
She says 'Steve I gotta go, I'm going to miss my plane'
He said one more tequila before you climb on up,
She said more night together in love

(Chorus)

Stays in Mexico,
Stays in Mexico,
Stays in Mexico,
Oh Mexico

Metallica, Anthrax, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Econoline Crush, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Guns 'N Roses, Firehouse, The Cult, Dokken, Black Sabbath, Nirvana, AC/DC, Exodus, Great White, Judas Priest, Korn, Quiet Riot, Scorpion, Whitesnake, Helix, Kiss, Venom, King Crimson, Slaughter, Machine Head, Poison, Tesla, Led Zepplin, White Lion, Van Halen, Thin Lizzy, Rage Against The Machine, Motorhead. Who says I'm ignorant and narrow minded?? (Damned good thing Google works okay...I think I've heard of about five of these groups!) The last T-shirt I bought that was music related featured The Moody Blues. Now that's music. I love stuff with real words and imagery, and that makes you stretch a bit.

Am I the only person in the world that does not go to concerts?

Other than the Beach Boys on the Mall in DC for the 4th of July, but I could barely see them (and it was free)

Moody Blues "In Search of the Lost Chord" was the 2nd album I ever bought (I think I was 12). The first was Tommy Row's "All in a Row" (Sweet Pea, Dizzy, Jam up and Jelly Tight )

And Crit... the first concert I ever went to was Beach Boys at the Cape Cod Coliseum. Snuck in a pint (or 1/2 pint) bottle of something I can't remember in my tie-up shirt for my boyfriend (they were friskin' the guys and letting the gals pass by).

Haven't been to an arena-type concert in years, Critter. Go to plenty of shows in the local mainstream theatres, but that's not really the same thing. First concert I ever went to was Paul Revere and the Raiders, so that gives you an idea of how long ago that was. Have also seen Garry Lewis & The Playboys, Roy Orbison, the Rolling Stones, Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass, The Monkees and The Ventures. Now, we're talkin' OLD! I'd crawl on broken glass to see The Eagles or The Moody Blues - have all their albums, or at least the ones that are out on CD. We've seen lots of performers in the Concert Hall venue.

There was an old old old Johnny Cash song: Egg-suckin Dog
I don't remember much of it, but it sure was funny. On the same album was another on that had a line about "I've been shafted from the elevator of your heart, dear..." Does not get any better!

I like a lot of the country/Carribean cross-over music these days - Jimmy Buffet, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson... also piano-bar-bluesey stuff - Diana Krall, Eva Cassidy, Norah Jones... going to see Norah Jones in concert next weekend.
