HM Rec: Riu Palace vs. Iberostar Lindo
Hi All! I think I've finally narrowed down my resort choices for my honeymoon to either the Riu Palace Mexico or the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo. I'd appreciate any feedback on these two resorts and how they compare to each other, particularly in respect to food (quality, availability, and abundance), crowdedness (& children), rooms, service, pool, and beach.
Thanks in advance! |

We took our honeymoon at the Lindo and absolutely loved it. I must admit, I went a little overboard on the research, figuring how important the pic was going to be - but it was so well worth it. Ironically, the Riu Palace was also on top 5 list, along with Secrets Capri, the Royal Hideaway, Aventura-Spa Palace, and of course the Lindo.
With respects to the food, both my wife and I absolutely loved it - with 5 a la carte restaurants and plus 2 buffets, the biggest challenge is deciding which one suits your taste. All of the a la cartes restaurants offered something for everyone, and the food was 'very good'. Our favourite was the Cajun, Steakhouse, followed by the Gourmet. Availabilty is not a problem, as long as you don't leave your reservation to the last minute. On the first day we booked our first three nights, and then later on in the week we booked the rest. The later you book, the better the odds you'll only a choice to eat later in the evening 8 - 9:30, although this was not a problem for us because the nightlife doesn't get too active at the resort until at least 9:30 - 10:00. As far as I was aware, the Riu has just two dinner seating times - 6:30 and 8:30. No issue whatsoever with the crowd at the lindo - with 5 pools to choose from you'll always find a quiet spot and plenty of areas to lie out. Rooms, beautiful rooms at the Lindo - we had the Jr Suite with jacuzzi for the first few nights and then switched over to the standard. The only reason why we switched was because the only jacuzzi suite available was on the ground floor across from the pool/walkway - not too personal. At the Riu, I understand that NO KING BEDS are offered. Beach was fantastic, although much of our time was spent at the 5 pools. Alright, got to get back to WORK. Another helpful sight in comparing the two is offered at: http://www.ramproductions.com/survey/topres.asp Enjoy |
