She was flipping her tail back and forth, as cats often do, and for an instant it crossed over the candle. Whoooooosh!!!! I swear the flames shot up two feet in front of me. I just dropped the bowl and lunged at her my right hand, grabbed her tail and put her out. Ended up with a fistful of fried cat fur and some of my skin. I burned my hand, although not too bad. The SMELL was incredible. Gizmo just ran across the room looking quite upset with me for grabbing her. The flames left a good sized "dent" in her tail fur but luckily didn't have time enough to get to the skin. I don't think she even knew what had just happened. She and Tigger just walked around wrinkling their little kitty noses at the horrible smell wondering why mommy was so upset!!

I have since learned how to burn candles with cats around - very very carefully and never never on the coffee table!

Seems like everything I buy something for the house, I am always thinking...hope my cats don't knock that over, or my cats would hurt themselves. ....I had to give up candles :p to and just use lampe bergers for nice smells !

I have one of those flat cooktop ranges built into the counter and I have always been afraid my cats would walk on it when it was hot.....so I have stopped letting them jump up on counters (yeah like that stops them) !!!

Our cats own our formal living room. We have covered all the furniture in sheets, can't keep them out.

We recently got a 50-inch flat screen television, and Corey was sure that the cats would ruin it somehow, so we got the maintenance man to put a door between the living room/sun room and the rest of the apartment. The cats have to leave that area when we're gone and when we're sleeping. We call it the human room. Surprisingly, it's actually kind of nice because we were able to take the towels off the futon/sofa (scratch prevention) and put out a lot of items that we had previously kept locked up, like the little wooden bobble-headed creatures from Mexico that we collect.

Sounds like Ginger's was an emBAREASSing moment...But I digress. It wasn't my moment, but Young Stud was standing in line at the airport as The Lovely Lady Lawyer and I listened to him explain his slight problem of a few evenings before. It seems that he got up in the middle of the night to drain his bladder and walked into the bathroom, closed the door and suddenly realized he'd just walked out of the room into the hall of the hotel...as in a big hotel, with people looking at him in all his nakedness. His frantic pounding on the door did not elicit any response from his soundly sleeping girl friend so he ducked around a corner looking for a towel, tablecloth, whatever...As he took off on his search, his friend did awaken. She, in turn, went into the hall looking for him--only she went the other way. :p He returned with a tray of some sort serving as his "shield", started pounding on the door again--with no response. It was then he remembered why it was he first rolled out of bed. He was off agin on yet another search--this time for the men's room. Eventually the two were re-united. I don't know about the group he was telling this to, but TLLL and I were damn near doubled over with laughter.

Actually, we do have one of those crazily-painted wooden creatures, you know the ones that come apart and have all sorts of spikes and stuff? We call that the chupacabra.

But the bobbly-headed creatures I'm talking about - mostly you see turtles. But we collect them and have managed to find all sorts of them. The cats love to knock them off the shelf and break them, so it wasn't until now that we have the human room that we were able to display them.

Do they also make a Blood-Sucked Goat bobblehead to go with it?? Or maybe those two only come in salt & pepper shakers...

I'd say Tyra Dammit's homies are no match for Leppy... besides he's got his pal's Bucky and Pepe to back him up.
