Hi all,
I want to take my wife back to Playacar for a 3-4 night trip. We've been to Allegro (back when it was Diamond Resort) and Reef Club on Cozumel. Allegro's beach was good, Reef club's wasn't that great at all. My wife really loves the beach and I'd like to find an AI in Playacar with a really fantastic beach, i.e. soft white sand, not a lot of rocks, clean, etc. Any recommendations? TIA |

Snowdog-
I think you found the best of the beach in Playacar already! My husband and I stayed at Allegro and we loved the beach. I was surprised one morning when I got up to see the sunrise. They have a hotel employee walk up and down the beach cleaning up whatever was washed in during the night at about 5:30 a.m. You'll wake up to nothing but perfect white sand in the morning! He also did cleanup in front of the Royal Hideaway, which is also an Allegro Resort. We walked the beach to Playa Del Carmen one night and the sand got a lot rougher up the beach. Good luck! |

We were just in Playa in April and the beach in front of the Allegro resort is quite erroded and the beach chairs seemed to be quite cramed together because of this. If you chose an AI further down the beach (south) from the Allegro you will find better beach and much more spacious. Check out the Rius, Royal Hideaway, Iberostar...these have much nicer beach property than the Allegro in my opinion (and I am a beach fanatic). As for rocky shoreline etc there just isn't any on the Playacar beach.

We just returned from Allegro Playacar, and found the beach to be fantastic. The sand is soft and clean, both on the beach and in the water. We swam out quite far from the shore and the sand was just the same under our feet there as it was on the beach. No rocks, no coral. We also walked up and down the beach (almost all the way into town one day) and found the beach at Allegro to be just about the best. Only advice if you are going to sit on the beach all day, is to get to the beach early in the morning and place your towels on the chairs you would like, then they will be yours for the entire day. But even when we didn't get to the beach until afternoon, we always found three lounge chairs together, but just not under a palapa. The beach at Allegro is probably the best we've ever enjoyed and we've been to quite a few in the Carribbean, Bermuda, Mexico and Florida (not to mention the beautiful beaches of our home area New England). So, go back to Allegro and enjoy!
