Americans

I am posting this thread as an observation and by no means wish to offend any Americans.

I am British, lived in the States for a while back in the 8o,s, travelled all over the world and moved to Playa to live only a month ago.

I would like to know what goes through the minds of the American people when they leave their country! Whenever I have visited a country, I have always found myself being offended and discusted by the behaviour of Americans towards foreigners, their culture and home land.

Unfortunately what I see does not seem to be isolated incidences, it seems to be a normal thing for Americans. What brought me to start this thread is that the other day I went to a cenote just down the road from Tulum. As most of you who have visited a cenote know, these places are tranquil places and people go there to admire the beauty and serenity. This paticular cenote had about five locals relaxing and sleeping around THEIR peice of paradise. Along came eight Americans who I actually heard before they had arrived! When they got to the cenote, one of them started to spit in the water while the others started screaming and shouting continously for the next 3 hours!

When I go down to the beach, normally Coco beach as it's supposed to be a bit quieter, all I can ever here above anybody else are screaming hyper Americans. I don't want to sound a bore, I want everyone to enjoy themselves but it's the disrespect for others that I find offensive. I have heard Americans shouting at shop staff down 5th Ave saying "give my change in U.S because Pesos are no good to me in the States". Don't Americans realise that they are in another country when they leave their own.

I could go on and on as I have seen this in every country I have visited with no exception. One reason for posting this thread is to find out if there is some reason for this behaviour that I haven't yet understood. Everyone gets excited and likes to party while on holiday but its about time people started to respect other countries, cultures and people! What is going on ?
