Whiskey in PDC

we are headed down for our very first trip to PDC on 1/22/05 and are very excited. We have been to Manzanillo and realized they do not sell any Canadian blended whiskey we drink here in the US. We were wondering if they sell any down there? I'm talkin about Black Velevt, Crown Royal, Seagrams VO or other blended whiskeys and not Jim Beam or any Kentucky whiskeys. Just wondering if we need to stock up on this at Duty Free?????

I don't believe the selection is too varied, but as I recall, we saw Canadian Club available at the Covi liquor store on Hwy 307 & Constituyentes. I don't recall if they had other brands or not - we weren't looking for booze from home, but were checking out the selection of tequila. The "imports" - rye, Scotch, bourbon - were darned expensive though, so I'd definitely take along whatever duty free you're entitled to.

Send a message via Yahoo to birdman
If the east side of Mexico is like the west side you'd better stock up at duty free shop

The Lovely Lady Lawyer is dedicated to assisting the Canadian economy by drinking Canadian potions. She always takes a few fingers of her favorite elixir with her because it's very $$$$ in Mexico , except at the airport's duty free shops. Of course they can only be shopped on your way home.
Most of the all inclusives stock some Canadian. The Porto Real's brand is less than a good substitute; while the Riu Palace has an excellent variety of choices.
Enjoy your visit...Cheers!

The AI we stayed at in Jan had plenty of CC on hand for my drinking pleasure. Crown was nowhere to be found, unfortunately, as it is my drink of choice.

You can buy all of those here, but just bring a bottle. It's easier than finding a good booze shop.

Another option is to try some tequila while here. There's a reason it's so popular.

You bet, and the good news is that Chedraui is looking to take them head-on, so there are some things even cheaper now at the booze aisle there.

Yes. It opened a month or so ago, apparently.

Hey James.. Rumour has it that the Sam's has a good selection to Tequila at good prices.. Just curious as to how far south of PDC the Sam's Club is on the highway. I saw a couple of threads on the Sam's opening, but they didn't seem too specific.. Thanks for any info!

Mark..

it's physically between the two Playacar entrances, so it is a good bit south of town. Get on the highway, drive beyond it, turn around at the loop. Highway engineering here is ghastly.
