Adios Panchos and Frida Bar

In typical local fashion, the police showed up today with a court order and required the tennants of Panchos and Frida Bar (including all the guests of the hotel) to get out and move everything out of there. I'm sure we'll get all the details over the next few days (it wouldn't take so long if Java Joe's was open for the morning gossip, in an ironic related earlier-than-anticipated-closure for them as well). Basically, everything had to be removed from the premises. Fifth was littered with refrigerators, tables, beds and everything else you can imagine.

Our roving reporter Stacy was on the scene and should have her images posted tomorrow.

Also in typical local fashion, a party broke out at the Tequila Barrel with all the folk that showed up to catch the happenings.

Wow, what happened? Isn't that Tommy's favorite hotel. Well I'm bummed, I was going to take the stereotypical picture in front of Frida. Must be something pretty juicy!!

Coming to Playa in 2 weeks for the first time and this was one of the places I was really hoping to visit. Can't wait to hear more details.

There's a story in one of the local papers this morning that says that this was all the result of a 2-year court battle following the expiration of their lease(s), disputes over payment or lack thereof, and that sort of thing.

That stinks! That was a nice place. I'm sure the photos of everything out on the street will be interesting. Man, that's rough!

Oh man, what a drag... Frida's is (was?) so cool. I feel for anyone who had reservations to come down and stay at Pancho's over the holidays
