Almost the same restrictions aply when you come into Mexico.
No fresh fruits nor vegetables, meat or cheese are suposed to enter the country without inspection by the sanitary authorities. And by the same reasons, to avoid cross contamination between one country to another.
Imagine everytime my Mom comes to Mexico with all the food that the relatives are sending (cheese, buns, homemade sauces or snacks, etc). Sometimes we are lucky and get to taste them, sometimes is the inspector who gets to eat them.
The trick would be to "process" the avocado in this case, like make a paste or sauce and bottle it in a labeled jar. Before the US allowed mexican avocados to enter that country, the only way to have them was in a sealed jar.
