Well, you'll notice alot less of those distracting details nowadays and soon, you may not see any at all. Now that most of the electrical and telephone wires have been buried along 5th Avenue, the stripper crews have been going about the business of tearing down the old stuff.

While Mike and I were in Playa, and were walking down Calle 10 between 5 and 1 Avenidas, we heard a HUGE explosion! We turned and looked up the street and saw a VAST cloud of thick smoke on 10th just west of Ave 5. Everyone in the immediate area had stopped dead in their tracks. As the smoke cleared, we saw an electrical worker on the top of a ladder leaning against a pole. He wasn't moving. I began to wonder if he was dead. Finally, he started SLOWLY down the ladder to the street....probably counting his blessings that he wasn't electrocuted! Don't know what was being done ~ it looked like lines were being strung from the north side of the street to the south side. I work for the National Electrical Contractors Association, so found the wiring and related work going on sort of interesting..... (To say the least!)
