Hi Patty, We do plan to reserve in the Aventura section, which is supposed to be renovated by the time we go. We are going at relative high season, the week before XMAS. I looked at Natz ti Ha; rates seem to be a bit out of our range, but I am still looking. How do you get in touch with owners directly? The Natz website appears to list the property mgmt companies for rentals only. However, just spoke to hubby and he does not want to have to worry about buying food on vacation. but I did some Walmart runs when we were last there and it was no big deal. San Fran should have so may taxis. Plus we will def need a fridge for milk and DHs soda addiction. Not sure if MBR rents them, but I know Palapas does for $2/day. And I think a W/D will be necessary unless MBR has laundry services. So I guess decision still not made after all. :-)

One more thing....if you decide to stay at Mahekal, note that the Aventura section is the best for avoiding the noise from Mamita's. Both times we stayed, we stayed in the Gardenview (cheapest) section and while we LOVED the room and that section in general, we did hear the th thumping from Mamita's and it was loud enough that we had to sleep with earplugs. The Aventura section is farther north on the property and the noise from Mamita's isn't nearly as bad. BTW, also not bad at Natz ti Ha, which is located directly behind Mahekal's Aventura section.

I posted a response on the discussion board to your question about Mahekal vs. Las Palapas, but I wanted to also tell you (privately, without blasting it on the board) that you can negotiate on price on the Natz to Ha condos. When we booked, I emailed the owners of several units units individually to ask if they had any special rates during the dates we wanted to visit and more than one of the owners offered me a significant discount. Granted, we are visiting in low season but you never know.
