We stayed at the Hotel Vista Caribe the week between Xmas and New Year's 04/05. We were in the Master Suite, which had 2 bedrooms, each with a king bed, a little kitchenette and eating area, and a little tv sitting area.
This hotel has its good points and not as good points.
Good points!
The location is extremely convenient. You are a block off La Quinta, and about a half block from the beach.
It is kept very clean.
There is someone at the reservations desk 24/7.
Very courteous staff.
We found it very quiet. We never heard evidence of other guests (but we were on the top floor). Even though you are in a very busy part of town, with the windows shut and ac on, the noise never bothered us.
We didn't see a bug the whole week we were there, nor did any come home with us.
Furnishings were in good condition.
Plumbing, ac, kitchen appliances ... Everything worked.
Our unit was very spacious, with a lot of storage areas.
You cannot beat the value of the master suite; it offers 2 K beds, each in its own bedroom. Not a common configuration in PDC hotels.
Kitchenette let us save money on breakfasts and other rudimentary meals/snacks.
It accepts credit cards for payment.
Not so good points:
The atmosphere is sort of sterile. This hotel could be anywhere.
The pool area is a nonstarter. The whole week we were there there were no lounges out, and the poolside bar was never open. (If you wanted to bring your own cooler of stuff down to the pool area, I don't think they'd object.) I don't think they heat the pool, either.
No elevator. If you're in a master suite, or at least the one we were in, be ready to walk four floors up. You get used to it after a day or two.
The beach areas you're closest to are not the nicest beaches in the area; but there are many beachside bars!
You should have a fine time there, as we did. But once you start poking around PDC, knowing where you'll want as your "homebase" next time ... Hotel Vista Caribe just isn't a place that will capture your heart for a return visit, if atmosphere or cache are important to you.
