Pros: super clean, great staff, on the beach
Cons: hard bed

We stayed in the best room at the hotel - the third floor beachfront room, which has windows all along one wall, and a huge wrap-around balcony, so you have a terrific view of the sea. The staff is very professional and also very friendly. I've never stayed in a cleaner room, and the cleaning staff gave us new towel art everyday! The restaurant is very good, and it's great to be right on the beach. I highly recommend this place. The only downside (minor) was the hard bed, which took some getting used to. This is, however, a common complaint about hotels in Mexico.

Pros: It's on the beach and has a good restaurant
Cons: None that I can think of

I stayed here with my aunt for 4 nights in July 2003. I had found a special promotion on their website, so I was able to get an ocean-view air-conditioned room with balcony for $70/night, including all taxes and full breakfast for two. It is located on the beach at the east end of 8th Street. The hotel is decorated all in white – walls, linens, floors, just about everything. It was kept spotlessly clean by delightful maids. In each hallway there was a water cooler and plastic cups. Having cold drinking water available was a definite plus in July. There is a solarium on the roof with an amazing view of the Caribbean and Cozumel. The front desk staff is bilingual. The owner is around most of the time, and I lost track of how many languages I heard her speaking. She chatted with us at some length in very good English. We ate well at the restaurant and used the always-available beach chairs everyday. Beach towels are available for a refundable fee of $200 pesos. They also have some beachfront suites with refrigerators, etc. www.alhambra-hotel.net
