We spent 10 days at the Eclipse Hotel in Nov/Dec 2003. Had a kitchenette room near the entrance. The hotel is rustic, but room was clean, towels were nice, kitchen equipped enough that we could cook if we wanted to. Location is great, one block to beach and 5th Ave., but on a quiet street. Peter, the owner, is just the best. He speaks German, French, Spanish, English and some Mayan, so communication was not a problem. He will provide any service you need. Only complaint was the noise from people coming and going as we were right by the entrance. Might not be a problem with a room in the rear. We will visit again.
I wanted to add to this review, as we spent another week at the Eclipse in Dec 2004 and had a room in the rear this time with no kitchenette. In fact, it was the room you can see in the photo of the courtyard, beyond the hammock. It was definitely quieter and had a big king bed that was very comfy. It had hammock hooks in the room, too, and we hung our huge newly purchased hammock. Another very pleasant stay.

We stayed a week at the Eclipse and we loved the rustic quality of the place. It was a very relaxed place and we enjoyed sitting up on the roof after coming home from a night on the town and winding down. Peter, the owner is wonderful. We also enjoyed the little deli/store attached. It was great to have coffee, breakfast in the morning. Very quaint place. Loved it. Great location.
