Pros: Clean, friendly, attentive staff, excellent restaurants, nice pool area.
Cons: The Royal Porto Real right across the street now and the new ferry dock will certainly change the look and feel of the resort.

I've been to the Gran Porto Real three times since October/03. I'm booked there again in October this year, because I got a deal I couldn't turn down. The first two times, it was paradise. Everything at the resort was perfect. With 5th Ave. just around the corner and a 15 minute walk along the beach (past all the beach bars!) to get to the ferry, it seemed to be the perfect location. Then in February everything changed. The Royal Porto Real blocks the veiw of the ocean from the street as well as the rooms along Constituyentes Ave. I think the ferry boats to and from Cozumel are going to make the pool and beach rather unpleasant, but I'm just speculating on that one.

Pros: 5th Av just around the corner, clean, nice rooms, kind employees, at the beach, beautifull pool, animation sepperate to one side of the pool.
Cons: waiting at the restaurant, the big noice (normal for a AI),

I give this resort a 8 for people who are used to big AI resorts and it's noice. We stayed in the Royal Porto Real room accross the street. Last year nothing whas ready at the Royal side, so we were happy with our beautifull quit room, but did not spend, other than dinner, a lot of time in or around the hotel. The food is exelent, but the restaurant is so noicy that we did not enjoy the food much...
If you want to see the pictures of the Grand porto real and the Royal Porto Real room, you can take a look in my pict reviews under multimedia.

Pros: Nice clean property. In town.
Cons: Food wasn't very good IMO.

Not completely sure about the price we paid, it was almost a year ago when we stayed. The location of this property can't be beat if you are going the AI route. My guess is if you don't care about being close to town then you might be happier at a different AI, I placed a lot of my opinion on this property based on its location. Drinks were OK, I think you could get premium(really mid range stuff) alcohol if you go to bar and ask for it specifically.

I would stay here again if I went the AI route.
