Pros: Great Managment, Rooms, Price, Very Clean
Cons: At the north end of the Tourist zone

This is our prefered hotel in PDC. Excellent staff and rooms at a great price. I have no problems recommending this hotel to anyone. My only regret is that it is about 1/2 mile north of the center of action in PDC. Nice big rooms with a great maid service. We left various cash and valualbles in the room without any problems, the maid was a honest person. Thank you Pena you did a great job for us and the hotel.

Another great benefit was the contential breakfast. Good coffee and juice to start our day for the price of a tip.

Pros: Like visiting family, clean, comfortable, very laid back, close to beach clubs
Cons: Not beach front property, but very few hotels are

I actually booked this property for friends while we were staying elsewhere. Manager, Alfredo, is very warm. We visited our friends quite often and spent a great deal of time there much of it spent just chatting with the staff. We were given use of the pool, free beach towels and passes for Mamitas, and more or less free run of the house as though we were also their guests. The only thing that would make this place a 10 would be if it were beach front property.

Pros: Great location, very nice & clean! Great staff!
Cons: Continental breakfast could be improved upon.

This was our first visit to PDC and we would definitely stay here again! The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, very attractive decor. Great management! Free internet service was a plus! Lucy left us new towel art daily and picked up on our anniversary date and did a pair of swans - she did a great job! Although it is at the north end of town, it is a nice short walk to the best part of the beach. Being away from the tourist zone means free & easy parking if you have a rental car, it's quiet and it's great to walk off all those extra calories from all the good food and beverages in Playa.

Pros: family atmosphere, friendly staff, free beach towels + tickets for Mamitas beach club, nice (small) pool, clean rooms with a/c
Cons: rather poor breakfast

Recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn't want to be "in the middle of the action on 5th" but at the same time close enough to walk there safely at 2am...

Alfredo (sales manager) and Genaro (booking assistant) are both very helpful and friendly.

The pool is nice and clean. So are the rooms. I stayed in a standard room with a/c, fridge and a rather spacious shower (sounds funny but 5 people could have had a party in there...just in case anyone is interested in that...;-)).

Another plus are the tickets for free chairs + umbrellas @ Mamita's beach club (4 min walk).

Pros: Clean, friendly staff, quiet, good value.
Cons: A bit of a walk from downtown Playa

Thumbs Up!:dI have to echo the reviews already posted. The Riviera Caribe is a nice, clean, friendly place to stay, and we wouldn't hesitate for a moment to book ourselves there again!! The location, while a bit of a walk from the "action", lends itself to a quieter, more subdued atmosphere which is just what we wanted to have when it came time to catch some ZZZ's. The free internet service for all guests was great to use to keep in touch with other Playa.Info members while there and keep in touch with folks back home. It's a short walk to Mamita's Beach Club for which the hotel provides passes for chairs/palapa and towels each day. Lots of hot water and good water pressure in the shower was appreciated too. Maid service was great, and the continental breakfast (especially the good strong coffee!) was a plus.

Pros: friendly staff, low price, very clean
Cons: traffic noise from 10th Ave., fake queen size bed

The room wasn't large, but it had two important features: in room safe, in room refrigerator. The common room behind the lobby had a computer with internet access, and an additional port to connect a laptop. You'll want to take advantage of the "pay cash" option to avoid the 12% lodging tax. Use a credit card for the deposit, pay with cash on checkout.

Bring some mosquito repellent. The pool, lobby, and coffee shop had a few skeeters looking for dinner, nothing like Minnesota in June, but some folks are more sensitive to bites than others. This was the last week in April, probably a seasonal thing.

The small coffee shop serves complimentary coffee, OJ, and toast in the morning. You can purchase other items if you want, such as a large plate of assorted fruits for 30 pesos, and egg dishes for 20 to 40 pesos. A friendly husband/wife team cook and serve the tables. They are open to 3PM every day other than Sunday, when they close at 11AM.

The hotel provided beach towels and passes for loungers and an umbrella for Mamitas Beach Club, which is about 4 blocks away. Very nice beach, but they pack you in fairly tight. Nothing like Europe in August, but certainly not a quiet, secluded beach.

Take advantage of the full service Laundromat behind the coffee shop and you can haul fewer clothes with. We dropped off 4 days worth of stinky laundry one morning and picked it up that evening. Washed, dried, and ironed for about 50 pesos.

We had a poolside room, 104. The building housing he coffee shop and Laundromat blocked some of the traffic noise from 10th Ave., but it was still annoying at times. I normally ask for a room as high as possible, but a poolside room was a nice change of pace. The hotel room was dark, and not real big, so expanding into the poolside terrace for some cerveza drinking was enjoyable.

The steps by the coffee shop/Laundromat go up to a sundeck on top of the structure. It was extremely hot most days we were there, 100F and humid, so the sundeck didn't look too inviting. Did see a guest up there one afternoon with a glass and a bottle of tequila, ouch.

The quests were Italian, French, American, and Canadian, with a heavy contingent of divers.

The lobby, cleaning, and coffee shop staff were all helpful and friendly. They even helped us track down a local woman we visit every trip.

Pros: cleanliness, kindness of staff, convenience
Cons: just not close enough for an ocean view

My sister, niece and I stayed at the Riviera Caribe Maya for one night in December 04 but would have stayed all week had we not had timeshare booked at the Grand Mayan.

The RCM is a great hotel that should not be overlooked! The staff were wonderful and very kind, the room was clean, the shower was to die for - if you like large tiled showers big enough for a party...The shower became an inspiration when we renovated our bathroom this Spring! The hotel is within walking distance to everything and a very quiet spot to relax. The price for one night was $65 USD for two adults and a 12 year old.

The check in staff were very accommodating, trying to make everyone in our party comfortable, insisting on bringing in an extra bed and rearranging the room! The restaurant for breakfast was good. We would highly recommend this hotel. It has a lot of character and a really good feeling about it.

I would have booked here in a heartbeat this coming December but my husband, who has never been to PdC but has been to Cancun, had only one request...an ocean view.
