I was very happy with our stay at Riviera del Sol two years ago. We stayed in a lovely room with two balconies and we could even see a sliver of the Caribbean. I really liked the informality of the place and I loved how close it was to Mamitas Beach Club. I guess the only thing that would have been nice was having a bar right downstairs. A woman was not always there but one night she was there and we had a few beers. There is absolutely no nightlife there, which is what we wanted. I highly recommend this beautiful little hotel.

The view is now minimal due to condo construction across the street. Construction starts at 7:00a.m. & finishes at 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.A bar is advertised, but not existing now. Bkfst is good, but only food served there. No restaurant as advertised

I enjoyed my stay, but felt a lot was offered that really wasn't there. Bar/restaurant/room service/etc. The view from the roof was awesome, even with the new huge building across the street.Picture to the right is no longer representative of the view. Will post mine from the roof soon.

Clean, simple, big rooms, location great, friendly staff, all basic needs fullfilled, near to the beach

Cons:

sometimes not enough tables for breakfeast

The Riviera del Sol is not a luxury hotel so I didn't expect any luxury. The room was big, clean and very simple. I liked it BECAUSE it was simple. Had no kitchen or fridge but didn't need such stuff. The important things for me were there: a safe (USD 1 per day), hot water and a clean bed. I had a TV with at least 50 stations but switched it on twice without watching. Had a nice balcony.
The hotel is built in asynchron style and I liked that. Breakfeast is simple (toast, marmelade, fruit, cellogs) but that was okay. You have an open room on the first floor where there are chairs, sofas and big TV. So if you wanna stay in company you can go there.
Personnel was friendly and helpful. Every day I got a beach pass for Mamita's and a towel (or two if I had wanted that). Beach is near. On the other side La Quinta is near and in the evening here begins the pedestrian area of la Quinta. Still it's quiet in the Riviera del Sol. I got woken up only once by a tourist bus.
Yes, I would go there again. Definitely!

We stayed at Riviera Del Sol for a week in early July. It was in a great location
close to the beach clubs and to town. This hotel could be great and I am sure it is for some. We had problems getting the room we requested. We wanted a room with a king sized bed but was put into a room with two doubles. After one night we were moved to the room we wanted but the a/c was broken. After a couple of hot nights they finally fixed the a/c. There was a sewer smell in our room everyday and little bugs everywhere. That said the problems were minor and mgmt was attentive. If there were no bugs and a cold a/c we would give it 2 thumbs up. But there are too many places to stay in the area to return here.
